Adapter #138 50A 240v 3.5ft. cable NEMA 14-50 to three duplex outlets, accepts 6-15 and 6-20 plugs
This adapter allows you to plug into your 4-prong NEMA 14-50 Outlet and gives you three 20 amp 240 volt Duplex Outlets, they will accept both NEMA 6-15 and 6-20 plugs. This adapter is internally wired to maximize the current path to each outlet giving each duplex Outlet access to the total budget of 50amps from the power input cord. You draw up to 20amps out of EACH duplex Outlet, but not all six at the same time as this would exceed the 50amp total limit. This means you can draw for example 20amps (4800 watts) out of one half of the duplex and then a total of 30 amps (7200 watts) amongst the remaining five outlets or 8.34 amps (2000 watts) out of each of the four outlets, or any combination that adds up to 50amps. Between the six outlets you have access to all 12,000 watts from the power input cord.
Following the NEC codes 80% rule of thumb it states any continuous load should not be more than 80% of the rated capacity for maximum capacity. The NEC code's definition of a continuous load is one that runs for more than 3 hours so this would generally not include window Air Conditioners, Refrigerators, Freezers, Air Compressors, Welders and Dryers for example. If you are using equipment such as Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVSE), lights or any loads that can run for more than 3 hours then those are deemed continuous loads and you will need to limit your total load on each Outlet to 16amps or 3840 watts continuous. With six Outlets this gives you access to a total of 40amps or 9600 watts continuous.
This adapter is built for a long life with the outlets house in a premium 6"x4" metal box with stainless steel cover and features an upgraded thick metal cable grip as shown. Outlets may vary in color but will both be the same.
